Job Responsibilities:
- Take a leading role in promoting good health, safety and environmental practices throughout the business and drive the development of a positive safety culture with strategies and tactical plans that continually improve performance
- Ensure the on-going compliance of the company’s Integrated Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Management Systems with certified ISO standards (9001, 14001, 27001, 45001)
- Support client pre-qualification processes, maintain company membership of relevant industry safety schemes, e.g., Alcumus SafeContractor, Constructionline, Achilles UVDB, Builders Profile etc. and manage approved supplier process
- Provide technical SHEQ advice in accordance with current legislation and good practice, including CDM. Design and support the implementation of risk control techniques, promote the use of suitable resources and oversee systems to manage risks effectively across the business and at sites
- Work closely with leaders and the management team to ensure business objectives relating to health and safety, environment and quality are met. Set performance targets and ensure accurate reporting against KPIs
- Complete operational audits and inspections across all of Peak’s locations to achieve health, safety and environmental compliance at site level, report back findings and ensure corrective actions are in place
- Ensure the management team is kept up-to-date with relevant legislative changes and organisational requirements
- Lead the company’s Safety Committee Meetings and act on feedback
- Oversee any required incident investigations to ensure that they are dealt with appropriately and that incident root causes are identified and acted upon
Experience Required:
- Ideally, a minimum of 5 years health, safety, environmental and quality experience in a similar role preferably within a related industry and ready now to move into a leadership role
- A good working knowledge of current legislation, codes of practice, guidance and operating procedures, including management systems compliant with ISO: 9001, 14001, 27001 and 45001
- Strategic and operational experience with the ability to create innovative, yet pragmatic, solutions to deliver objectives
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to adopt different approaches and styles of influencing to foster effective working relations with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, at both business and site level
- Effective communication skills with the ability to deliver business compliance messages in clear and appropriate manners and build credibility with business leaders and site personnel
- Working towards Chartered Membership of IOSH (or equivalent) and a relevant degree level qualification
