About this position:

Are you wanting to progress your career as a Test & Development Technician? Got a strong background in mechanical and electrical test installation, rotating machines and test rig preparation? Due to this company’s continued expansion and strong product portfolio across both motorsport and future automotive, we are looking to recruit a Test & Development Technician to support our growing portfolio of driveline testing projects. 

They are already well renowned within the motorsports industry for designing and manufacturing powertrains for cutting edge race cars, including F1 and Formula E. They are relied upon by many of the world’s top motorsport teams, performance car constructors. 

Responsibilities:

• Working closely with the other members of the team, your role will be to prepare, install and commission test components in readiness for test 
• You will fit transmissions, Electric motors, adaptors and driveline components to test rigs
• You will also fabricate brackets or make up simple test stands as required
• You will ensure all fitting work is completed to strict health and safety standards

Experience Required:

• Background in automotive/aerospace development environment
• Strong mechanical fitting skills with experience in rotational machinery such as test rigs, Jig and fixtures, transmissions, axles, electric motors, engines, etc
• Working Knowledge/Experience of system or component testing on test rigs preferably transmissions or electric motors
• Strong metalworking skills and ability to use test workshop equipment (lathe, milling machine, pillar drill, welder etc.)
• Knowledge of Instrumentation, sensors, data acquisition equipment and powertrain test cells
• Experience of building and stripping transmissions or other rotational machinery
• Experience of test rig calibration processes
• Experience of transmission inspection and measurement
• Working knowledge of systems including compressed air, ventilation, heating, powertrain test rigs, air conditioning, fire suppression and alarm systems
