About this position: 

You will join the team with the primary objective to work closely with our customers to develop, test and optimise the performance of their Electrified Powertrain for future vehicle programs.

Furthermore, you will be expected to take ownership for planning and executing test work primarily on developmental rigs, providing clear and concise data analysis and reporting/recommendations to customer teams (focused but not limited to EDU, Electric Motor, Power Electronics). 
Our engineers are typically exposed to multiple different projects during their career working with us, including increasing opportunities in the field of electrified powertrains and virtualised development. The role is therefore particularly suited to flexible people who will enjoy the opportunity to gain experience in new areas and who can rapidly self-start, combining a pro-active attitude, excellent analytical problem-solving skills and an outstanding technical engineering background.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the testing campaign from requirement definition to Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Definition of the testing requirement (technical and timing) with the Subject Matter Expert
  • Supervision of the testing facility set up, to ensure Rig and Unit Under Test fulfil requirement (BoM creation)
  • On site support at customer or other facilities as appropriate to monitor and ensure good delivery of the testing campaign.
  • Timely data processing and data analysis that will be used to make engineering decisions 
  • Daily summary updates on project and testing status to all project stakeholders
  • Responsibility to ensure any issues have been formally logged on and assigned
  • Technical direction to test facilities & other stakeholders
  • Support internal AVL presentations and participate in trainings and knowledge exchange 

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 2:1 bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant engineering area (Mechanical, Automotive, etc)
  • Experience in powertrain development or testing
  • Electric Drive Unit experience and knowledge
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to summarise and make clear technical recommendations across multifunctional disciplines with supporting data
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with high level instruction, minimal detail breakdown and to be able to seek out relevant information, data and support from other engineering groups
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively, both written and verbal, with AVL and customer team members
  • Flexible and adaptable to move onto other commodities (e.g., battery/charging/inverter)
