About this position:

This company is a world leader in the design, engineering and delivery of turnkey projects to the Industrial Gases Sector, providing guaranteed, risk free solutions to maximise the return on investment for their customers. They are now looking for a Principal Engineer to join the team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead fostering a strong team work ethic. 
• Maintain an openness to feedback on one’s own performance and a commitment to implementing agreed performance/behavioral changes.
• Work positively with current; and establish new, good working relationships with customers, contractors and suppliers. 
• Be a key team member for engineering projects by defining the commercial, process and technical strategy for the project and preparing appropriate design and project documentation.
• Prepare design and detail drawings of equipment and systems, including the procurement and use of external engineering services, when required.
• Provide software engineering.
• Identify appropriate equipment and hardware to meet project requirements.
• Participate in HAZOPs studies or risk assessment to evaluate the safe working and operability of the plant and the integrity of plant protection systems.
• Approve vendor package systems.
• Undertake all requirements including expediting, for the external procurement of all necessary equipment and hardware.
• Undertake site surveys and supervise the site installation of systems and hardware by external sub-contractors, including the technical vetting of tender proposals from the alternative contractors, interviewing short listed candidates and monitoring performance to programme, installation quality standards and safe working practices.
• Undertake pre-commissioning acceptance testing of individual systems and hardware including supervision of such tests by external manufactures and suppliers.
• Undertake final plant start up and commissioning.

Experience Required:

• Experience of using Siemens TIA Portal and Step 7.
• Experience of programming using LADDER and SCL in a live production environment (2+ Years).
• Familiar with the concept of Object-Oriented design and using FB instances to prevent repetition of code.
• Able to demonstrate experience of commissioning PLC code in a live production environment.
• Understand or has implemented comms to external devices using MODBUS RTU, MODBUS TCP, PUT/GET, TSEND/TRCV & OPC UA.
• Experience with Siemens VSD Implementation in TIA Portal and Telegram usage.
• Experience with design and implementation of HMI or SCADA based systems.
• Able to demonstrate good HMI design fundamentals to ensure a quality user experience.
• Able to demonstrate efficient design to ensure capacity for future expansion.
